n terms of weight, the average adult human brain weighs in at 1300 to 1400 grams or around 3 pounds.
The brain is composed of 73% water.
There are about 86 billion neurons and 85 billion glial cells in the human male brain. Glial cells make up about half the total volume of the brain. Glial cells are nerve cells that don’t carry nerve impulses. The four main functions of glial cells are to surround neurons and hold them in place, to supply nutrients and oxygen to neurons, to insulate one neuron from another, and to destroy and remove dead neurons.
In humans the cerebral cortex makes up 77% of brain by volume. The cerebellum adds another 10%. The diencephalon, midbrain and hindbrain make up about another 10%.

In terms of volume, brain tissues help in maintaining the metabolic activity of the human body. Most of the energy to the brain is supplied from glucose. Different information from various parts of the body are processed inside the brain. Eighty percent of the brain volume is made up of glial cells.
